Cheryl Tentschert, Buerkle Middle School teacher, does a matching activity with studentsAs the school year comes to an end, the Board of Education would like to take a moment to reflect on the incredible accomplishments we have achieved. Through collective effort, we are proud to report that our schools have continued to provide a high-quality education. Our teachers
and staff have gone above and beyond to support our students both academically and emotionally. We are grateful for their dedication and hard work. Our students have also excelled in extracurricular activities, such as sports, music and the arts. These programs have been a source of joy and pride for our community, and I am thrilled to see so many students pursuing their passions and talents.

Prop E is strengthening our schools
Thank you to our community for the passing of Prop E. Because of Prop E, BIG things are happening in the Mehlville School District! The Board of Education has approved the classified
employee pay schedules for the 2023-2024 school year, and our employees will see a nice increase in their pay that is competitive with the private sector and other districts. We have approved the 2023-2024 teacher salaries, and I’m happy to report they are now competitive, regardless of teacher experience and education, with surrounding districts. Some of our teachers saw their salaries frozen in 2008-2009 and 2015-2016 due to past budget shortfalls. In the 2023-2024 school year, we will restore those teachers’ salaries, placing them in higher salary tiers to make up for the frozen years. We have also approved the 2023-2024 administrator salaries to be competitive with surrounding districts. The Board of Education looks forward to considering nurse salary schedules at a June meeting.

Congratulations to our students!
This year has been a year of great progress for our district. We have seen increased student achievement, expanded learning opportunities and a renewed sense of community. I am proud of the work that our students, staff and families have accomplished together, and I am confident that our district will continue to thrive in the years to come. With your continued support, we can ensure that all our students can reach their full potential.

On behalf of the entire Board of Education, I would like to congratulate the graduating seniors, the Class of 2023! It is exciting to see where they will go next, and we wish them happiness and success in their journeys ahead.

Thank you again for your support. We wish you and your family a happy and healthy summer.
